Photovoltaic quartz is a key foundational material upstream of the photovoltaic value chain, mainly referring to high-purity quartz sand and quartz products used to make core PV consumables such as quartz crucibles, quartz boats and quartz tubes. In crystalline silicon cell production, quartz crucibles serve as the "container" for pulling monocrystalline silicon ingots and come into direct contact with molten silicon above 1600°C. Their purity, high-temperature resistance and thermal stability directly determine crystal yield, minority carrier lifetime and cell conversion efficiency. Quartz boats and tubes are carriers and reaction components in core processes such as diffusion, coating and sintering, significantly affecting wafer yield. Drawing on more than ten years of experience in high-purity quartz sand production, ESSN fully leverages its resource and technology advantages to continuously advance R&D and quality upgrades for photovoltaic quartz materials. It has achieved commercial mass production of multiple grades of photovoltaic quartz products with low impurity content and excellent batch-to-batch consistency, meeting the higher consumable requirements of next-generation PV technologies such as large-size wafers and N-type cells. At the same time, ESSN has led the technological upgrading of photovoltaic quartz, helping to break the long-standing reliance on imported high-end quartz materials and making positive contributions to filling the industry gap, reducing costs and improving efficiency in the PV industry, and building an independent, controllable supply chain. As global PV installations continue to expand, the strategic value and market demand for photovoltaic quartz will keep growing.
